The Texas Western players also have been immortalized in their own movie and have been inducted as a team into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

NCAA history: Drew led the Bears to the Elite Eight for the second time in three seasons after beating South Dakota State, Colorado and Xavier. Eventual national champion Kentucky eliminated them in an 82-70 loss where Anthony Davis dominated with 18 points, 11 rebounds and six blocked shots.
